Suzi
Suzi - 2005 - 2014
I fell in love with Old English Sheepdogs when I was 5 years old, and my parents took me to see the original Shaggy Dog movie starring Fred MacMurray. The movie was in black and white. My parents got our first sheepdog when I was 18. Actually, I bought a sheepdog puppie and 'forced' them to keep her.
After college and when I got married, we got our second sheepdog that lived for 12 years and we got our third sheepdog from rescue who passed away in 2008. Suzi came into our lives in the summer of 2008 from the Tarheel Old English Sheepdog Rescue.
We have adored all of our sheepdogs, but Suzi was different. Prior to being rescued, Suzi had been neglected. She apparently had been tied to a fence all the time, her coat was severly matted and she wasn't a strong or healthy dog. Perhaps the neglect she had shaped her personality, because when we adopted Suzi, we found the sweetest dog that only wanted to be loved and love us back. That is what Suzi did.
Suzi was a hugger. When I came home from work, or really anytime I walked back into the house, she greeted me like Dino Flintstone. Suzi loved being with our family and all she ever wanted was someone to pet her. She was a big lapdog. Everyone loved Suzi. Our family, our extended family, our kid's friends, the vets who cared for her, the groomer, and people who came to our home to do work.
Suzi passed away after a short and devastating bout with metastatic lymphoma. My family and I miss her terribly.
We want to thank TOESR for bringing Suzi into our lives, our vets at Hunter Mill Animal Hospital that cared for Suzi, and mostly just say We Love You to Suzi.
