Higgins

On January 7, 2019 we lost Higgins, the sweetest sheepie we'd ever been fortunate to have. We adopted him from Belinda and Tarheel OES Rescue in April, 2014 and want to thank everyone for trusting and believing that we could provide a loving and fur-ever home for him. From the beginning we saw that Higgins was timid and shy. It took a lot of sitting near him, to gain his trust but once that happened, he bonded with us. Higgins fought to stay with us until he no longer could. I told him I understood and it was ok for him to leave. Higgins had been diagnosed with splenic cancer in June 2017 and while we all fought, he was 14 yrs old and at his age, we decided to let things run it's course when he went to the Rainbow Bridge. My nickname for Higgins was 'my handsome fella.' I had others but this was my favorite.

He had the most beautiful sky-blue eyes and he would sleep with his tongue hanging down on the floor almost like it was too big to fit in his mouth. When we put his collar on, he knew he was going for either a car ride or a walk and would prance or gallup around the house like a small pony. He loved his walks, particularly along the beach and his rides. Someday I will see you again, my handsome fella and I know you're with Benson, Phoebe, Boo-boo, Meggie and countless others, playing and chasing. I love you and miss you my handsome fella . . . until we're together again.
