Barnaby

We offer condolences with regard to the death of TOESR rescue dog, Barnaby. Barnaby came to us after the death of his original owner whose family members immediately took him to one of the local shelters. Barnaby had some issues, both medical and behavioral but was well worth the rehabilitation that came his way. TOESR stepped in to give him a chance, and after quite a bit of time in foster care, Barnaby was placed with a wonderful woman who saw him for what he was: an older dog needing love and compassion. Before going to his forever home, Barnaby actually attended the 2013 TOESR picnic and seemed to enjoy himself. Once his adoption took place, things were good for Mr Barnaby! We do know that his new owner loved him dearly.

About a year went by when once again, Barnaby's life took a disjointed turn. Unfortunately, Barnaby's owner tragically and unexpectedly passed away, and had there not been the on site help at the death scene from one of our volunteers, he would have been taken to Animal Control and euthanized. For close to a year, Barnaby has lived - along with the prior owner's other sheepdog - with one of our foster volunteers. Older than any of us knew or believed, this past week, Barnaby's body simply gave out. As caregivers for him, our kindest recourse was humane euthanasia so with vet approval and our volunteer in attendance, Barnaby finally has found peace.
