Luci

If you follow TOESR dog updates regularly, you may remember a year ago when a lovely 'old lady' of a sheepdog named Luci came to us. Luci was 12 years old, going blind and deaf, and suffering from both severe hip pain and a poor home situation, but was - despite all of that - a beautiful dog.

Luci was fostered by TOESR volunteer Ellen Gower and began to receive the love and care that we give to all of our dogs. As Luci's health continued to deteriorate, we removed her from our 'available' dogs list, and Ellen agreed to keep Luci for what remained of her life to simply provide comfort to a gentle dog in her twilight years.

Luci passed away last night (2011-02-23) with Ellen by her side and is finally free from pain. Please join the TOESR family in remembering Luci, a dog that finally felt a hand of comfort as well as love and compassion.

Ellen, you are a hero.
Luci, you are free now.
