Annie - Adopted!

We first found out about Filly via a desperate phone call from a fellow rescuer at one of South Carolina's animal shelters. Filly had been brought in as a stray and was due to be euthanized almost immediately.

Our volunteer Ellen Gower, new to Tarheel OES Rescue, went into overdrive with picking Filly up, getting her to a veterinarian and making sure she was safe. Once all the health-related responsibilities were completed, Ellen took Filly into her home and together with her family which also includes her own OES, proceeded to coax some brightness back into Filly's life.

I received a call from Mark and Lisa Mitchell who expressed an interest in Filly. After an extended conversation with Lisa, I found that she had always wanted an OES but the timing had never been right. She'd always put her longings aside. After an initial trip to see Filly, Lisa decided it was her time to finally have her dream dog.

On a beautiful day, Filly, who is now Annie, went to her forever home with Lisa, Mark and their son, Jacob. Further conversations indicate that Annie is doing well. We hope to hear more about her progress as time passes.

Thanks to Lisa, Mark and Jacob for giving Annie a home where she'll be loved forever.
