Moses - Adopted!

Moses ranks at the top of the list of rescues in horrible shape that have come to Tarheel OES Rescue. As an owner turn-in, Moses was so matted that it took an entire afternoon to shave him down. He had sores on his skin and elbows and he was covered with fleas. The worst issue however was that Moses was morbidly obese and was a good 50 lbs overweight. Through all the 'cleanup' however, Moses was placid and allowed himself to be cut down without issue.

Waiting in the wings was volunteer Susan Medlin, who was willing and ready to foster Moses. The one objective however was to 'get the weight off Moses'! Regular reports advised that Moses was indeed improving and slimming down. As time passed and tales of Moses' travels to different venues in the state, (work, town meetings, arts festivals, wine bars, etc) we began to wonder if perhaps there wasn't a bond being built...hmmmm.

All I can say is this...we all got a chance to visit with Moses and his new owner at the recent annual group picnic and he looks phenomenal! Attending Susan's 'boot camp' has really made a difference and it's obvious that they're an inseparable pair. When asked if she'd 'flunked' fostering, I had to say, 'duh, yeah!' But it's folks like Susan that will give their all to help an animal that hasn't had the best of lives, that make the difference.

We look forward to many more stories of Moses and his escapades!
