When we got the call from another rescue group that they had taken an OES male out of one of the local shelters, TOES stepped in to help. This dog's owner had been hospitalized and had given his care over to a relative who couldn't keep him.

Thanks to some superb coordination among the groups, the dog was picked up at a boarding kennel where he was being housed. According to Betty and Marge, this dog was a badly matted mess, complete with the smell to go along. Once Pete started cutting him down, it was apparent that he didn't like to have his neck touched. No wonder! There was a plastic flea collar slowly cutting off his airway. In fact, it's made a permanent ridge in his neck. No telling when it was put on and due to all the hair, no one had noticed.

Once the collar was cut off, he became a new dog! Since then, newly named Chunk, has flourished and already has the reputation of being the grand comedian of OE's. Just seeing him walk into a room will bring a smile to your face. He's developed a real rapport with the other Muttley Manor dogs and is a grand helper with the fosters that come and go. Chunk does however have one bad habit. He's never met a door he likes.....you can look at ours to see just how much that's the case. Those of you that visit Muttley Manor have a treat in store when you have the opportunity to meet this fella. He's a blast!
