Mascha
Masha ( now known as Mascha) came to TOESR as the result of an extremely difficult and one that demanded being carried out quickly, owner release. After being in two separate temporary foster homes and finally having been moved via transport to what felt like a perfect 'foster to adopt' family, things calmed down a bit for Mascha as she waited on her spay surgery to become available for adoption. Sometimes, even with excellent planning though, events take an unexpected turn. This was one of those times. Through no fault of either the foster home OR Mascha, things simply didn't work out. After having lost two of my three sheepdogs last year and having also undergone a serious spinal fusion surgery and am still in recovery for that, I'd been pretty vocal regarding being content with my remaining boy, Scoobie. I spent some long hours in a deep dive, thinking logical thoughts and 'adulting'. But once again, my heart won the battle between logic and love. As I spent more time with Mascha, I came to realize that even though I'm aging out of a larger breed like an OES, she was such a great fit, small (50 lbs), LOVED my Scoobie, extremely smart and for the most part, laid back until a squirrel shows up, I simply couldn't say no to adopting her. Mascha is a joy, has brought a sparkle back into Scoobie's eyes and has been instrumental in healing my own heart that felt broken at times. It's been a marvelous journey so far. I'd not owned a young female sheepdog since my very first OES, Maya, almost 50 years ago. This 'adventure' makes me realize why I fell in love with the breed way back then. Thanks to so many people who helped with Mascha's transition. She's home!
