Jewel

We were priviledged to be able to obtain and bring Jewel into the TOERS program. Her life prior to our involvement was one of a breeding female, never being shown the typical love and care as a 'pet'. When Jewel came to us, she was covered in motor oil, (solution to the treatment of fleas in some circles), and filthy. Her demeanor was what you'd think: hopeless.

But with immediate human interaction and great vet care, Jewel started to make an amazing transition. With that vet care, we also learned that due to her extensive breeding, Jewel also had mammary cancer. We addressed that medical situation and she was given a clean bill of health later after surgeries to address those issues.

It's not easy to find a home willing to take a dog who's not only 'older' but with prior medical issues. We found that special person and are happy to report that Jewel is now free from ever being in a puppy mill again, but more importantly, is well loved and treasured for herself in her new home. Thanks to all involved with this beautiful rescue. We thank the staff at Main Street Vets and most particularly to Tom for his kind heart. But most of all, thank you to Mary Ellen for seeing Jewel for what she is and unconditionally extending love to her! We thank you!
