Miffy - Adopted!
Miffy, by all rights, probably wouldn't have been alive today without the keen observation
of some concerned rescuers who saw Miffy and two other OES's being turned in at Animal
Control. All of the dogs had been abandoned for approximately a month and all were in deplorable
condition. Once contacted, a TOES volunteer agreed to foster two of the three dogs. That was only
the beginning of a long way back to health for Miffy, who was also very pregnant and happened to
have her nine pups over a weekend, all alone, at the shelter. All the pups died and once Miffy was
taken to the vet and pronounced strong enough to proceed, she underwent spay surgery along with a
hernia repair and a mass removal.
Luckily, Miffy improved and gained some much needed weight relatively quickly. In stepped
Michael and Steven from Charleston, SC, who came with some excellent credentials for their efforts
in the past with OES rescues. Driving up to meet Miffy at the TOES annual picnic with their other
rescue OES, Savana, they decided they'd love to give Miffy a loving and safe home. Within a week,
Miffy was on her way southward and by all accounts is getting along famously with Savana, although
with some lingering issues.
Thanks so much to Michael and to Steven for their caring enough to give this girl a second chance at
a good life! We'll be seeing more of Miffy as time passes I know!
