Beatrice - Adopted!
Beatrice came to TOESR from some pretty bad surroundings. She'd been used as a breeding dog in
a backyard breeding facility, fed only a handful of food three times a week and had her puppies sold by the
side of the road. She was dumped at a local shelter, along with two other dogs from the facility and being
the eldest of the three, no one wanted her.
Some great folks working at the shelter - who really care about the animals they release for adoption - worked
with our volunteer Allie, and we were able to help prepare
Beatrice for foster care and a new life. When we picked Beatrice up, she was perhaps the most
malnourished sheepdog We've seen. One could encircle her tiny waist with your hands and the protruding shoulder
and hip bones were hard to fathom. But with the help of a very caring foster home, Beatrice began to flourish - and
within just a few days. She became known as quite clever in finding all the treat jars and anything else edible!
It didn't take long to find the perfect home for Beatrice. Kelly had contacted TOESR just a few weeks prior
and made her wishes known that she'd love to be able to provide love and care to a needy sheepie, having
recently lost her own dog. The adoption fell into place easily. Today, Beatrice continues to gain weight and
confidence. She's receiving all the love she can handle from Kelly and her children
Cannon and Garrett. We look forward to hearing and seeing Beatrice's continued progress.
Thanks to all the TOESR volunteers that helped in this successful placement. It was a true group effort
that included Allie, John, Sue and Gary and of course Kelly and family.
