Maxie - Adopted!

Maxie's story began sadly. She was turned in to a shelter in bad condition by her owners and left there to whatever end came her way. She'd been doused with motor oil to 'correct' a flea condition and consequently had all of her hair burned off.

Once in the hands of TOESR, however, Maxie immediately started showing signs of improvement. She discovered that humans could be kind and actually would allow her on their sofa to sleep. She also discovered that good things come out of ovens and that using the bathroom outside was a good thing and would receive high praise. Maxie even learned to smile.

From the time Kim and Mary Lou saw Maxie's picture on the website, they were adamant about adopting her. Through some hastily scheduled changes to set up a 'visit' to meet Maxie along with the bad weather conditions and the holidays, Maxie finally met her new family and her new sister, Maggie.

We'll continue to update Maxie's progress on the website and on Facebook. We have reports that she's going just great and is even jogging a bit now. We'll all wait for the 'bark' and the new butt fur!

Thanks to the sheepdog shack residents, both human and canine for helping Maxie make a wonderful transition to normalcy and a most special thanks to Kim and Mary Lou for taking this very special girl into their lives and home. Rescue truly is a very heartwarming experience!
