Gus - Adopted!

Gus came to our group from a shelter in western NC where he was found as a stray running down one of the main roads in the area. Gus wasn't in the best shape at the time and after being cleaned up and vetted was diagnosed with heartworms. Through our network of volunteers, most notably Meredith, Gus made treks across the state to receive home care and vet treatment for his heartworms.

A bit tentative at first, Gus came into his own. With Meredith's diligent work to help him overcome some of his anxiety issues and semi-destructive tendencies, Gus was well on the way to being a great dog.

We'd met Richard when he'd contacted TOESR after the loss of their previous OES and knew he was looking for another companion. Gus seemed to fit the bill for their family, so off they went to visit Gus and immediately knew he had to come home with them! By all reports, Gus still has a bit of anxiety but that is being slowly corrected and he's well loved and cared for with his new family.

We hope to hear more about Gus and his progress as time goes on. Thanks so much to Richard and his family for giving Gus the home he deserves. Thanks as well to Sally, Allie and Meredith AND to the staff at Forsyth Vet Hospital in particular to Dr Gillis, who herself fell in love with Gus!
