Steve - Adopted!

Shag was rescued from a high-kill shelter as his time ran out by then-volunteer Pete.

Shag was an eccentric fella, and having bitten to protect his owner's two small granddaughters, wound up being quarantined with time running out. His personality was a bit off-kilter and he was pretty much a barbarian.

Shag was provided new quarters in foster care, lots of proper socialization and hours of attention, and what a huge difference it made! His demeanor changed to the delight of all of his very dedicated allies. (Many thanks to both Meredith and Allie for their TLC with Shag.)

Enter Brandy! One look and a visit to meet Shag was all it took. His energy, personality, and social qualities sold her immediately. Shag has now become Steve and has taken on a completely new dogs' personality. Brandy reports that he's already become a very versatile traveler and has accompanied her on some great hiking adventures and rides. He even became the life of the party recently during a visit to Asheville. We all hope to hear more about Steve's (Shag) adventures as he lives a completely different life in the future. Many thanks to Brandy for seeing just how special this fella is and for giving him the love and care he's needed.
