Pandy - Adopted!
Patches was found wandering near a local river by some fishermen and turned into an animal control facility. After trying to find an owner and without Patches being microchipped, her chances of finding a home were slim. A concerned local resident contacted Tarheel OES Rescue and Pete picked her up. Upon fostering at Muttley Manor, we determined Patches was super smart, was trained, etc, but she didn't want to share her newfound attention from humans with any other dogs. Several families were interested in adopting Patches but all had other dogs.
Once vetted, we also got the bad news that Patches was heartworm positive. She then began treatment for heartworms which comes with a lengthy recovery time.
I received a great inquiry regarding Patches one day from Pamela, who thought she could provide a wonderful home for this wayward girl. We set up a visit and the two met each other and bonded immediately. With prospects high for Patches, Dee and Steve Lowrey were kind enough with some help from their own OES, Morgan, to conduct Pamela's home visit.
The day came for Patches to begin her new life with Pamela. Everything went very well and we saw Patches heading up the driveway with Pamela. Further updates have been very positive. Patches has settled very well with Pamela and apparently has developed a habit of 'singing along' with her new mom when she gets the chance. She has yet to see the sheep that are pastured next door but we have hopes of hearing about that adventure another time.
Thanks to Pamela for giving such a sweet and unique dog a wonderful home! And thanks to all the volunteers that made this adoption a success!
